Perzen Patel was a finalist in the University of Auckland's Velocity $100k challenge after cooking up an idea for a tasty business. Read the story of how she balances full time work with a growing business.
Perzen Patel is the creator of a tantalising range of Indian spice pastes designed to give New Zealanders a taste of the real India while still being versatile enough for a soup or Sunday roast. She is bringing her business Dolly Mumma (named in honour of her grandmother) to life while continuing her day job at the Uni.
Each week we talk to a small New Zealand business and this week we're talking to Perzen Patel who's business is called 'Dolly Mumma'. They make ready-to-cook Indian products which you can use to make curries and to compliment your everyday Kiwi cooking. Their motto is 'no more Butter chicken'.
Perzen is happiest when she is at the intersection of cooking food, eating and telling a good story. She shines a light on NZ's diverse food scene through her podcast, Kiwi Foodcast and, thanks to the support of Panuku's The Kitchen Project, Perzen is working on the launch of her business, Dolly Mumma.
